Utilizing typography, layer styles, masks, texture layers, and photo assets. I crafted a book cover with a compelling composition on both the front and back covers. The print-oriented nature of the book cover prompted deliberate choices in asset size and shape for quick understanding. Principles like balance, white space, and hierarchy were employed, particularly in aligning the back cover and balancing photo assets and typography.
Extensive time and effort was invested in development, inspired by a personal favorite book, I Would Leave Me If I Could. Purposefully selecting intimate photos of Halsey aimed to convey a more delicate side, showcasing originality and attention to detail.
Following instructor feedback, adjustments were made including utilizing a color image on both covers and streamlining the title text stylization throughout, aligning with suggestions and improving the overall balance of the piece. The final design is presented as a high-resolution, color-accurate, and readable artifact. Its polished presentation as a critical portfolio piece attests to the meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship in creating an effective book cover design.
